The Chief Executive, Mr Tung Chee Hwa, met the Chairman of the Hong Kong Tourist Association, Mr Y S Lo, and representatives of the tourist industry today (Friday) to listen to their views on the promotion of the tourist trade.

Mr Tung expressed his full support for the development of the tourist industry, which is an important part of our economy.

He said, "The Government welcomes views from the tourist industry on issues of concern and, in particular, specific proposals to promote the tourist trade. The Government will look into ways to assist and support these proposals."
