![]() Chief Executive's transcript
The following is the transcript of a media session given by the Chief Executive, Mr Tung Chee Hwa, after attending the Hong Kong Baptist University congregation ceremony this afternoon:
Reporter: Mr Tung, would you comment on the anti-fever syrup case?
Mr Tung: What has happened has brought about a great deal of anxiety to the parents, and may be a degree of illness to the children. I personally and I know my colleagues in the Government regretted what has happened very much. The Government has now organised an independent committee to look into the causes as to why this has happened in order to ensure that this will not happen again. And I think the most important thing is to make sure this will not happen again and let us wait for the results of this investigation which will come out soon.
Reporter: ...said that the election spending limit is too high. Will you consider adjusting it downwards a little bit?
Mr Tung: I think all the views will be carefully considered. I think what is important is that the suggestion that's been made has in fact been made after very careful considerations. What are the realistic levels of spending of all the candidates, realistic level of spending and that is what is important in my view.
