To enhance public awareness of mountaineering safety, the Civil Aid Service joined hands with seven government departments and non-governmental organisations to hold the "Mountaineering Safety Promotion Day" on 23 September (Sunday).  As one of the co-organisers, the Observatory set up a booth to introduce weather related to mountaineering and hiking, and gave two talks on mountaineering and weather.  Several "Friends of Observatory" volunteers helped man the booth and enjoyed a happy day with the visitors.
