Our Ref: G10/1/7C and B1/15C 12 February 1999 The Chief Executive Dear Sir/Madam, Private Website for Authorized Institutions I am writing to inform you that the Hong Kong Monetary Authority ("HKMA") will be introducing a private website, designed for the exclusive use of all authorized institutions ("AIs") in Hong Kong and the HKMA for information dissemination and communication. The new website will become available on 15 March 1999. Through this new website, all AIs will be able to communicate directly with the HKMA and access all banking related application forms, circulars, guidance notes and the latest version of software (e.g. Submission Through Electronics Transmission "STET" software and survey input templates) issued by the HKMA, free of charge. We would like to invite you to visit the new website by making the following simple arrangement. If your institution is already submitting banking returns through STET, access to the new website can be easily achieved by installing a Web Browser software (e.g. Microsoft Explorer version 4 or Netscape Navigator version 4 and above) in your PC connected to the STET network. With the browser software installed, you will be able to connect to the STET network (the same network logon procedure as in the return submission) and access the website by entering the website address indicated below: www.hkfin.net For AIs not presently using the STET system, a user account and certain system parameters need to be inputted to their computer systems in order to connect to this website. This information will be available for collection from 26 February 1999 by presenting the attached bearer letter (Annex) duly completed to the Public Registry of the HKMA at 29/F, Asia Pacific Finance Tower, 3 Garden Road, Hong Kong. Please note that this is a private website, and cannot be accessed through the public Internet. Overtime, this will be developed into the main channel of communication with AIs for confidential and authenticated messages. All AIs are encouraged to make full use of the free services available on this website and I hope that you will find the website useful and informative.
