Review of Regulatory Reporting

We wrote to you on 29 November 2002 and subsequently on 7 November 2003 introducing the revised set of regulatory returns and completion instructions. This letter serves to remind you that the new reporting requirements will come into effect for the positions as of March 2004.

The full set of revised returns and completion instructions can be accessed through the HKMA's public (http://www.info.gov.hk/hkma) and private (http://www.hkfin.net) web-sites. The new templates of the STET system for the submission of returns will be available for downloading at the end of March 20041.

1 Except for the deletion of the Weekly Statement of Certain Assets and Liabilities and the reduced reporting frequency of overseas branches of locally incorporated AIs in respect of the Return of Assets and Liabilities and Return of Current Year’s Profit and Loss Account, which have taken effect in 2002.
