Dear Sir/Madam,

 

Amendments to the Return of Securities Related Activities

We advised in our letter of 13 August 2001 that all authorized institutions that are exempt dealers are required to make a declaration once a year in the Return of Securities Related Activities (MA(BS)14) in respect of the compliance of all their securities dealing staff with the continuous professional training requirements in the preceding calendar year. The first declaration will be made in the forthcoming Return for the period ending the last day of December 2001.

This serves to inform you that the said Return and the Completion Instructions have been amended to provide for the declaration. The Return is amended by adding a new Part VII while new paragraphs 12, 14 and 23 have been included in the Completion Instructions. We are in the course of modifying the standard templates to facilitate completion and submission of the amended return through the STET system, which would be available for downloading from our private website (http://www.hkfin.net) in early January 2002.
