United Nations Sanctions
Further to my letter of 17 October 2001, I write to inform you that the Government has gazetted today two notices setting out the particulars of individuals and entities designated by the United Nations Security Council Committee to be individuals and entities of the Taliban and Taliban undertakings or connected with Usama bin Laden (copies attached). These notices are relevant in respect of the provisions in section 3 of the United Nations Sanctions (Afghanistan) Regulation and section 8 of the United Nations Sanctions (Afghanistan) (Arms Embargoes) Regulation on the freezing of funds of, and the making of funds available to, the individuals and entities designated in the notices.
