Quebec gets insight into Hong Kong business opportunities Hong Kong's excellent business opportunities are being introduced to corporations in Quebec at the first large-scale Hong Kong promotion, which opened this week at ExpoCite. The promotion, which includes a business seminar and a large-scale exhibition, has been organised by the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Canada (HKETO) with the support of the Quebec City Government. It has been designed to inform the people of Quebec about Hong Kong's business opportunities and the advantages of partnering with Hong Kong companies to capture the China market. Guests at the opening of the exhibition today included the Mayor of Quebec City, Mr Jean-Paul L'Allier, the President of ExpoCite and Vice President of the Quebec City Executive Committee, Mr Claude Larose, and HKETO Director, Mrs Rosanna Ure. Mrs Ure said the infrastructure projects featured in the exhibition represented tremendous business opportunities for Canadian companies. "In the coming 10 years, the Hong Kong government will invest C$120 billion in some 1,600 infrastructure projects. I would urge interested Quebec companies, particularly those in the engineering, architectural, construction and landscaping sectors, to take part in these business ventures," she said. In addition, Mrs Ure said, the recent signing of the Closer Economic Partnership Arrangement (CEPA) with China had greatly enhanced economic co-operation and integration between Hong Kong and the Mainland. Mrs Ure invited Quebec enterprises to leverage on Hong Kong's advantages under CEPA to form partnerships with local companies to venture into the China market. End/Thursday, August 14, 2003
