Four Directors of Bureaux continue LegCo joint-Panel duty visit in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Bay Area (with photos)

     The Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs, Mr Patrick Nip; the Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Mr Edward Yau; the Secretary for Innovation and Technology, Mr Nicholas W Yang; and the Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury, Mr James Lau, today (April 21) continued the three-day Legislative Council (LegCo) joint-Panel duty visit to the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Bay Area (Bay Area). They inspected the latest developments of Dongguan, Zhongshan, Guangzhou and Foshan, and met with the respective officials of the municipal governments to exchange views on the complementary co-operation of Hong Kong and Bay Area cities. 

     The four Directors of Bureaux and LegCo members visited the China Spallation Neutron Source project in the Dongguan Songshan Lake Science and Technology Industry Park in the morning. The delegation saw for themselves the tunnel installation and the control centre to learn about the operation of the advanced science project and its application. 

     In the afternoon, the delegation went on to Zhongshan and met with the Vice Mayor of Zhongshan Municipality, Mr Lei Yuelong. They then visited the Zhongshan Tsui Hang New District Planning Exhibition Centre to obtain first-hand information on the planning and development of Zhongshan and the local health pharmaceutical industry. They also inspected the landing point of the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link. The link will be a core transport infrastructure across the Pearl River, connecting the east and west of Guangdong Province.

     The delegation later departed for Foshan via Guangzhou Nansha and visited Qingsheng transportation hub in Nansha district to learn more about the construction of high-speed rail and road network of the transportation hub.

     In Foshan, the delegation visited Lingnan Tiandi, which was an integrated project featuring tourism, commercial and cultural attractions. They also had an exchange session with young Hong Kong entrepreneurs who started business in Foshan during the visit at the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Technology Exhibition and Exchange Center in Sanshan New City. 

     The delegation then met with the Vice Mayor of Foshan Municipality, Ms Yu Jin, and exchanged views on the co-operation areas of Hong Kong and Foshan.

     They will visit Guangzhou again tomorrow (April 22) to conclude their duty visit.
