Secretary for Security visits Sai Kung (with photos)

     The Secretary for Security, Mr John Lee, visited Sai Kung this afternoon (April 18) to learn more about its law and order situation and the livelihood of local people. He also visited a drug treatment and rehabilitation centre in the district.

     Accompanied by the District Officer (Sai Kung), Mr David Chiu, Mr Lee first met with members of the Sai Kung District Council to exchange views on law and order matters and other issues relating to people's livelihood in the district.

     Later, Mr Lee visited the Life Training Base of the Christian New Being Fellowship. The centre aims to help residents rebuild their life objectives and good character for reintegration into society, through gospel-based drug treatment and rehabilitation integrated training as well as vocational training.

     Mr Lee was briefed on the facilities and services of the centre to better understand the training of its residents. Before concluding his visit, Mr Lee chatted with residents and tasted refreshments and coffee prepared by them. Mr Lee expressed his appreciation of the drug treatment and rehabilitation services provided by the Life Training Base and encouraged the residents to grasp the training opportunities for their reintegration into society. He also encouraged people with drug abuse problems to seek help early so as to quit drugs.
