Pan Asia Symphony Orchestra to stage concerts with Lio Kuokman and Josef Špaček in May
***************************************************************

Presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, the Pan Asia Symphony Orchestra will stage two concerts in May under the title "Concert by Lio Kuokman and Josef Špaček". The concerts will feature two alumni of the Curtis Institute of Music of the United States, young conductor Lio Kuokman, praised by the "Philadelphia Inquirer" as a "startling conducting talent", and violinist Josef Špaček, the winner of various international violin competitions and the youngest concertmaster in the history of the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra.

Under the baton of guest conductor Lio Kuokman, the Orchestra will begin the concert with an early work by the Soviet composer, Sergei Prokofiev's "Violin Concerto No. 1", with Josef Špaček as violin soloist.

The second half of the programme will include Tchaikovsky's final masterpiece, "Symphony No. 6, Pathétique", to commemorate the 125th anniversary of the composer's passing. Using his rich experience, guest concertmaster Špaček will lead the Orchestra in performing the symphony.

The concerts will be staged at 8pm on May 25 (Friday) at the Auditorium, Tuen Mun Town Hall; and at 8pm on May 26 (Saturday) at the Auditorium, Tsuen Wan Town Hall. Tickets priced from $120 to $180 are now available at URBTIX (www.urbtix.hk).
