Hong Kong Customs seizes suspected heroin (with photo)

Customs officers intercepted an incoming private car at Shenzhen Bay Control Point for clearance yesterday evening and seized a total of 20 packets of suspected heroin weighed about 4.8kg in two male passengers' possession. The batch of suspected heroin was concealed inside the false compartments of the shoes worn by the duo, and wrapped with adhesive tape around their calves and thighs, as well as around the abdomen of one of them.
The two 21-year-old male passengers and a 30-year-old male driver were arrested. Investigation is ongoing.
Under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, trafficking in a dangerous drug is a serious offence. The maximum penalty upon conviction is a fine of $5 million and life imprisonment.
