Appointment of members to Hong Kong Maritime and Port Board announced

The Government announced today (April 6) the appointment of six new non-official members and the re-appointment of 10 incumbent non-official members and as well as eight institutional members to the Hong Kong Maritime and Port Board (HKMPB) for a term of two years with effect from April 1, 2018.
The six new members are Mr Angad Banga, Miss Veronica Fung Kit-ming, Mr Wellington Koo Tse-hau, Mr Kenneth Lam Sze-ken, Mr Timothy Lee Kwok-lam and Mr Clarence Leung Ka-fai. Mr Angad Banga is the Chief Operating Officer of a global maritime enterprise; Miss Veronica Fung Kit-ming is a business management professional; Mr Wellington Koo Tse-hau is the Executive Director of an international shipping company; Mr Kenneth Lam Sze-ken is the Chairman of a shipping finance limited company; Mr Timothy Lee Kwok-lam is a senior marine insurance underwriter; and Mr Clarence Leung Ka-fai is a partner of asset finance and leasing.
In addition, 10 incumbent members, namely Ms Agnes Choi Heung-kwan, Mr Patrick Fong Yiu-fai, Mr Bjorn Hojgaard, Mr Kwok Kwok-chuen, Miss Rosita Lau Sui-yee, Mr Li Lian-jun, Mr Andy Tung Lieh-cheung, Miss Elsa Yeung Mei-fong, Mr Frankie Yick Chi-ming and Mr Gerry Yim Lui-fai; as well as eight institutional members, namely the Hong Kong Container Terminal Operators Association, the Hong Kong Liner Shipping Association, the Hong Kong Sea Transport and Logistics Association, the Hong Kong Shipowners Association, the Hong Kong Shippers' Council, the Institute of Seatransport, the Hong Kong Trade Development Council and the Vocational Training Council have been re-appointed.
The Secretary for Transport and Housing, Mr Frank Chan Fan, welcomed the new members and thanked the outgoing members, namely Mr David Cheng Fu-kwok, Mr Paul Chan Kei-yan, Mr Xiang Ge-bing, Mr Michael Goh Pek-yang, Mr Sean Aloysius Kelly, Dr Venus Lun Yuen-ha, Ms Iris Mak Kam-yu, Dr Jimmy Ng Jim-mi and Mr John Bruce Rae-Smith for their sterling contributions to the HKMPB and the development of maritime industry in Hong Kong.
Mr Chan said, "As the vision statement of the HKMPB states, we would join hands with the industry to further consolidate Hong Kong into a major maritime services hub which generates good synergy with shipping and port operations through a vibrant port, an established shipping heritage as an international maritime centre as well as effective governance, policies and practices for the maritime cluster."
The HKMPB was established on April 1, 2016. The Board provides a high-level platform for the Government to work with the industry with a view to setting the direction for the long-term development of Hong Kong's port and maritime services, fostering the development of maritime manpower and devising promotion strategies and initiatives to enhance Hong Kong's status as an international maritime centre.
