Award Scheme for Learning Experiences under Qualifications Framework opens for applications
***************************************************************

The 2018-19 Award Scheme for Learning Experiences under the Qualifications Framework (QF) will be open for applications from today (March 19) until May 25. Practitioners from 23 industries are welcome to apply.

A spokesman for the Education Bureau said that the theme for this year’s Award Scheme - "Learning has no boundaries; experiences facilitate progression" - reflects the aim of the Award Scheme in encouraging outstanding or emerging practitioners to engage in learning activities around the world with a view to broadening their horizons and increasing their knowledge in the industry. Through the learning activities, practitioners can also get acquainted and establish rapport with local and overseas practitioners.

The Award Scheme covers 23 industries under the QF. With the establishment of the Travel Industry Training Advisory Committee (ITAC) in January this year, there are 22 ITACs (see Annex) under the QF at present, covering more than 50 per cent of the workforce in Hong Kong.

Over the past five years, the Award Scheme has attracted over 900 applicants from different industries, of which over 200 practitioners were awarded. Awardees may join the dedicated Facebook page to facilitate their communication and sharing with one another, and participate in visits and other activities organised for them by the QF Secretariat from time to time.

"Feedback from awardees in the past years shows that the Award Scheme not only afforded them opportunities to broaden horizons and extend networks, it also helped reinforce their conviction in lifelong learning. Through their pursuit of continuous learning, they are able to upgrade themselves. We hope that these awardees will be role models for their respective industries and help promote the QF," the spokesman said.

The learning activities in which practitioners can participate under the Award Scheme include competitions, seminars, sharing sessions and study tours. Awardees engaging in local learning activities will receive an award of $10,000, while those engaging in learning activities outside Hong Kong will receive an award of $30,000. Applicants may visit the website www.hkqf.gov.hk/AwardScheme for details of the Award Scheme.
