SLW to visit New York

     The Secretary for Labour and Welfare, Dr Law Chi-kwong, will depart tomorrow afternoon (March 12) for a four-day visit to New York for the 62nd session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (UNCSW).
 
     On March 13 and 14 (New York time), as part of the Chinese delegation, Dr Law will attend meetings of the UNCSW, including a ministerial segment on women's access to the media as well as information and communications technologies.
 
     Dr Law will speak at a luncheon jointly organised by the Hong Kong Association of New York, Asian Women in Business and the International Women's Entrepreneurial Challenge Foundation on the experience of Hong Kong on women's empowerment.
 
     While in New York, Dr Law will meet with the Executive Director of the Mayor's Office for Economic Opportunity of New York City, Mr Matthew Klein, and the Commissioner of the New York City Human Resources Administration and the Department of Homeless Services, Mr Steven Banks. He will also call on the Deputy Consul General of the People's Republic of China in New York, Dr Zhao Yumin.
 
     Dr Law will arrive in Hong Kong in the evening on March 16. During Dr Law's absence, the Under Secretary for Labour and Welfare, Mr Caspar Tsui, will act as Secretary for Labour and Welfare.
