SCS continues his visit in Europe (with photos)

     The Secretary for the Civil Service, Mr Joshua Law, has continued his visit in Europe to get updates on the management and training of the civil service there.

     Mr Law visited the National School of Administration in Strasbourg, France, yesterday (March 7, Strasbourg time) and met with the Director, Mr Patrick Gérard, to discuss professional training for senior civil servants in France and the strategies for developing human resources in the public service.

     Mr Law then visited the National Institute for Local Studies, which specialises in training of local government chief executives and senior managers. He met with the Director, Ms Véronique Robitaillie, to learn about the Institute's experience in providing training for the civil service.

     Today (March 8, London time), Mr Law will begin his visit to the United Kingdom for the last leg of his European trip. He will visit the Cabinet Office of the British Government to exchange views on the management and development of the civil service. He will also visit the Blavatnik School of Government of the University of Oxford to learn about the latest developments of its programmes and discuss the collaboration between the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government and the School in arranging for Hong Kong civil servants to attend training courses at the School.

     He will also visit Saïd Business School of the University of Oxford to learn about the latest developments of the School's programmes for senior executives, and discuss the arrangements for Hong Kong senior civil servants to participate in its training courses.

     Mr Law will tomorrow (March 9, London time) visit the Civil Service College in the United Kingdom to learn about its training programmes for the British civil servants and other international organisations. He will also visit HM Treasury to exchange views on the human resources management of the civil service.
  
     Before departing, Mr Law will meet with members of the Hong Kong Association Committee and Hong Kong students in the United Kingdom to learn more about their work and learning experiences there.

     He will return to Hong Kong on March 10.
