Re-appointment of Executive Director of SFC

     The Financial Secretary has, under the authority delegated by the Chief Executive pursuant to the Securities and Futures Ordinance (Cap. 571), re-appointed Ms Julia Leung Fung-yee as the Executive Director (Intermediaries) (ED(INT)), with an additional role as the Deputy Chief Executive Officer, of the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC). The re-appointment is for a term of three years from March 2, 2018, to March 1, 2021.

     Announcing the appointment today (March 2), a Government spokesman said, "Ms Leung has extensive regulatory experience in financial services matters, including securities and futures matters. She has made valuable contribution to the work of the SFC. As the Executive Director and in her new role as the Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Ms Leung will continue to assume the management responsibility for the Intermediaries Division of the SFC and will assist the Chief Executive Officer of the SFC on Commission-wide policy issues, longer-term strategic direction setting, international engagement and key organisational development. We look forward to her continued dedicated service to the SFC in the new term."

     Ms Leung was appointed as the Executive Director (Investment Products) of the SFC in March 2015. Since June 2016, Ms Leung has taken over the ED(INT) post.
