********************************************************************************
Some 500 guests attended a spring reception in Tokyo, Japan, today (February 28) organised by the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office (Tokyo) to celebrate the Year of the Dog.

Speaking to guests from various sectors including the Japanese political and business circles, academia, media and community groups, the Principal Hong Kong Economic and Trade Representative (Tokyo), Ms Shirley Yung, said that 2017 was an exciting year for Hong Kong and noted that the signing of a free trade agreement with ASEAN last November and the ongoing Belt and Road Initiative would certainly provide a boost to Hong Kong’s overall attractiveness as an investment destination for Asia.

"Hong Kong is part of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, an integrated economic and business hub in southern China with a total population of 66 million and a combined GDP of US$1.4 trillion," she added.

The spring reception was jointly organised by the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office (Tokyo) and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council.  To promote Hong Kong's arts and music talent, Hong Kong a cappella group Yat Po Singers was invited to perform at the reception.
