SHA meets with Minister of Culture and Fine Arts of Cambodia (with photos)

     The Secretary for Home Affairs, Mr Lau Kong-wah, today (February 26) met with the Minister of Culture and Fine Arts of Cambodia, Dr Phoeurng Sackona, in Phnom Penh to explore ways to strengthen cultural connections between Hong Kong and Cambodia. In addition, Mr Lau visited cultural facilities in Phnom Penh and met with Hong Kong people who live there.

     Hong Kong and Cambodia have been conducting exchanges in the field of culture and the arts. Over the years, representatives from the Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts of Cambodia have visited Hong Kong to attend the Asia Cultural Co-operation Forum hosted by the Home Affairs Bureau. Last year, to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Hong Kong’s return to the motherland, the Royal Ballet of Cambodia performed in Hong Kong. The performance was well received.
 
     Mr Lau will depart for Bangkok tomorrow morning (February 27) to meet with the Minister of Culture of Thailand, Mr Vira Rojpojchanarat, and sign a Memorandum of Understanding on Cultural Co-operation. He will also meet with officials from the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, visit cultural and sports facilities and watch performances by young Hong Kong musicians in Bangkok.
