Suspects in connection with a murder case returned to Hong Kong

     Hong Kong Police received three suspects in connection with a murder case from the Guangdong Provincial Public Security Department at the Lok Ma Chau Boundary Control Point yesterday (February 12).

     The three local males, aged between 29 and 30, were in suspected connection with a murder case happened in Tin Shui Shopping Centre, Tin Shui Wai in 2008, in which a male was killed. Four men were prosecuted by Police later. They were convicted by the High Court and sentenced to between four years’ and life imprisonment respectively. The three males absconded to the Mainland after the case.

     With the information of the suspects, Police sought the assistance of the Ministry of Public Security and Guangdong Provincial Public Security Department. The suspects were subsequently arrested in the Mainland.

     Hong Kong Police were grateful for the invaluable assistance rendered by the Ministry of Public Security, Guangdong Provincial Public Security Department and Shenzhen Public Security Bureau, which resulted in the arrest of the three suspects who absconded to the Mainland for over nine years. The arrest of the suspects in the Mainland strengthened the determination of the Police in Hong Kong and the Mainland to fight crime and to uphold the rule of law.

     Active investigation by District Crime Squad of Yuen Long is underway.
