SED on Basic Competency Assessment
**********************************
Following is the transcript of remarks by the Secretary for Education, Mr Kevin Yeung, at a media session after attending a radio programme this morning (February 10):

Reporter: Mr Yeung, I would just like to ask about the BCA (Basic Competency Assessment) test. Is it possible that it could be dropped this year?

Secretary for Education: We are still waiting for the Committee (Coordinating Committee on Basic Competency Assessment and Assessment Literacy) to come up with their recommendations. When we receive their recommendations, we will of course look at the whole situation and then make the final decision of whether or when we will hold the coming BCA test.

Reporter: Any direction forward and when…?

Secretary for Education: At this stage we do not have a fixed position.

Reporter: I said when would the report be out.

Secretary for Education: We will likely make the decision in March this year.
