"Capture and Experience Tung Chung" photo competition concludes successfully (with photos)
***************************************************************

The Civil Engineering and Development Department (CEDD) today (February 3) held an award presentation ceremony for the "Capture and Experience Tung Chung - Prequel to Tung Chung New Town Extension 2017" photo competition. More than 500 entries were received, all of which captured different facets of Tung Chung before the extension of the new town.

Officiating at the ceremony, the Director of Civil Engineering and Development, Mr Lam Sai-hung, commended the superb quality and diverse themes of the entries, which reflected the daily life of Tung Chung residents as well as the natural landscape and buildings of Tung Chung.

Mr Lam said that while the Government takes forward the project of extending Tung Chung New Town to meet the city's future needs for housing and economic development, land has been reserved in the extension area for recreational, educational and community uses while attaching great importance to conservation. For example, a channelised section of Tung Chung River in Tung Chung west will be revitalised into a riverside park that combines conservation and recreational uses to enhance the natural environment and promote a water-friendly culture.

A roving exhibition of the winning entries in the Open and Student groups under the themes "Landscape, Architecture and Heritage" and "Culture and Living" will be held from today until April 30. Details of the exhibition and the list of winners are available on the competition website (www.tcnte-photo.com).
