Rising Cantonese opera stars from Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao to perform in February

     Rising Cantonese opera stars from Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao will perform in "A Showcase of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao Cantonese Opera New Stars" in February. They will tour the three places and perform "The Legend of the White Snake", presenting skills and techniques acquired from the older generation, while also enhancing the exchange of Cantonese opera culture. The Hong Kong performance will be staged at 7.30pm on February 6 (Tuesday) at the Auditorium of Sha Tin Town Hall.

     The cast includes Yan Jinfeng, Mo Weiying and Kang Jian from Guangdong; Chan Kei-ting, Wong Po-huan, Man Shuet-kau and Ruan Dewen from Hong Kong; and Mo Wing-lam, Cheung Suet-yan and Kong Wai-lam from Macao. Excerpts to be performed include "Touring West Lake", "A Startling Change", "Stealing the Magical Plant", "Flooding Jinshan Temple", "The Broken Bridge", "Trapped in the Golden Bowl" and "The Falling of the Pagoda".

     The programme - one of the Greater Pearl River Delta Cultural Cooperation Projects - is jointly presented by the Department of Culture of Guangdong Province, the Home Affairs Bureau of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and the Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Macao Special Administrative Region, and organised by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department.
