World record music attempt, race festival and comics exhibition among highlights of 20th anniversary celebration (with photos)
******************************************************************************************
An attempt to create a new world record for a saxophone lesson, a race festival and a comics exhibition will be held in the coming days and weeks as part of the celebrations for the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR).

Organised by the Music Zone Foundation Association, an attempt to set a Guinness World Record for “the largest saxophone lesson” is scheduled to be held on December 31 (Sunday) at Chan Sui Kau and Chan Lam Moon Chun Square at Hong Kong Polytechnic University.

The event will give young people a chance to demonstrate their creativity and musical talent while at the same time attempting to break the world record for a saxophone group lesson. Bringing together over 100 teenagers, grassroots residents and disabled persons along with Hong Kong Polytechnic staff members, students and alumni to learn and perform the “Star Wars” theme on saxophone within two hours, the performance also seeks to serve as inspiration towards a positive life and a harmonious society, as well as being an enjoyable music lesson.

Registration is required to join the performance with your own saxophone at 11am on the day. Visitors can enjoy the show at 2pm. For enquiries, please call 2380 7321 or 8100 3828.

A fun-filled public race festival will be a highlight activity of the Volvo Ocean Race Hong Kong Stopover, the first time the Volvo Ocean Race has visited Hong Kong. The Volvo Ocean Race Hong Kong Festival will be staged from January 17 to 31, 2018 at Kai Tak Runway Park, next to the Kai Tak Cruise Terminal.

Visitors will be able to enjoy a variety of entertainment, experience sporting challenges and meet the sailors competing in the Volvo Ocean Race, one of the world’s toughest sporting challenges.

One of the featured attractions is The Globe, a 3D cinema experience providing visitors with the opportunity to feel what it is like to be a sailor in the race. The seven race boats will also be moored at the venue during the event so members of the public can see the 10-storey-high yachts up close. Other programmes include stage performances, photo opportunities, meet the mascot, food stalls and food trucks and more.

Admission to the festival is free. More details on the event will be announced by the organiser later. For event information and transportation arrangements, please visit www.volvooceanracehk.com or email volvooceanrace@mayoandcalder.com.
