Limited Registration applications for public doctors submitted
**************************************************************
The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:

The Hospital Authority (HA) today (December 15) submitted to the Medical Council of Hong Kong (MCHK) the applications of 11 non-local doctors for Limited Registration to serve in public hospitals. Among the 11 applications, three are new applications while the other eight are for renewal.

"In the light of doctor manpower shortage and workload issues in various clinical units, the recruitment of non-local doctors has been supported by the respective Central Co-ordinating Committees and endorsed by the HA Task Force on Limited Registration Scheme," the HA spokesperson said.

The three new applications for Limited Registration submitted to the MCHK today are in Anaesthesia, Emergency Medicine and Internal Medicine. Regarding the renewal applications for eight non-local doctors (five in Anaesthesia, two in Family Medicine and one in Internal Medicine), their one-year Limited Registration will expire in the first quarter of 2018.

Currently, there are 12 non-local doctors working in public hospitals as Service Residents under Limited Registration in the specialties of Anaesthesia, Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, Internal Medicine and Radiology to help relieve the manpower pressure in the respective units.
