Government proposes to carry out Phase 2 improvement works at Kai Tak Approach Channel and Kwun Tong Typhoon Shelter
******************************************************************************************
The Government intends to erect a temporary works area to reconstruct a section of the existing seawall for the construction of a seawater intake point within an area of approximately 900 square metres of foreshore and seabed at the Kai Tak Approach Channel. The proposed works are part of the proposed Interception and Pumping Scheme under the Phase 2 improvement works of the Kai Tak Approach Channel (KTAC) and the Kwun Tong Typhoon Shelter (KTTS). The project aims to improve the water quality and reduce the odour nuisance at the KTAC and the KTTS.

The proposed works are tentatively scheduled to commence in mid-2019 and to be completed in 2022. The extent of the area of foreshore and seabed affected is described in a notice published in the Government Gazette today (December 15).
