SED visits Wong Tai Sin District (with photos)

     The Secretary for Education, Mr Kevin Yeung, visited Wong Tai Sin District today (December 9), where he met and exchanged views with local District Council members and school principals. He also visited a secondary school and officiated at the Fire Prevention cum Heart Saving Carnival 2017.

     Accompanied by the District Officer (Wong Tai Sin), Ms Annie Kong, Mr Yeung first went to Sheng Kung Hui St Benedict's School and met with the Chairman of Wong Tai Sin School Liaison Committee, Mr Mok Chung-fai, the Vice-Chairman, Mr Lo Fat-keung, and other members to exchange views on school development and other education issues. Led by some of the secondary school’s students, Mr Yeung also toured the campus and listened to their thoughts about school life and their aspirations.

     Mr Yeung then met with the Chairman of the Wong Tai Sin District Council, Mr Li Tak-hong, and other members to hear and respond to their views on education and other district issues.

     During his visit to Wong Tai Sin District, Mr Yeung also officiated at the Fire Prevention cum Heart Saving Carnival 2017. Accompanied by the Chairman of Wong Tai Sin District Healthy and Safe City, Dr Allen Shi, and the Chairman of the Wong Tai Sin District Fire Safety Committee, Mr Wong Kam-choi, Mr Yeung visited the exhibition area on fire and ambulance services and some game booths.

     Mr Yeung said that the objective of the event is to promote a safe, healthy, harmonious and caring culture in the community and to raise the awareness of fire prevention and heart saving. The objective is in line with school education in Hong Kong, which also attaches great importance to positive values and attitudes. He expressed his gratitude to the organising parties for offering participation and learning opportunities to members of the public and students.
