Secretary for Security visits Southern District (with photos)
*************************************************************
The Secretary for Security, Mr John Lee, visited Southern District this afternoon (December 8) to learn more about the livelihood of local people and its law and order situation. He also visited a community centre in the district.

Accompanied by the District Officer (Southern), Mrs Dorothy Ma, Mr Lee first met with members of Southern District Council to exchange views on local affairs and issues relating to the law and order situation in the district.

Afterwards, Mr Lee paid a visit to the Caritas Community Centre - Aberdeen, which runs a wide range of services and activities for grassroots families, youngsters, single elderly people, ethnic minorities and new arrivals from the Mainland.

Mr Lee was briefed on the services provided by the centre and its future development. He then chatted with an outreach social worker and a client of the centre, followed by a visit to a tutorial class in the centre.

Before concluding his brief visit, Mr Lee toured Gato House at the centre. The Gato House project, funded by the Beat Drugs Fund, aims at improving the mental health and life skills of drug abusers and rehabilitees, and uses animal therapy to assist in drug counselling and vocational training.
