Talk on Pixar animation to be held at Heritage Museum
*****************************************************
A talk entitled "The Art of Camera and Staging: Cinematic Storytelling at Pixar" will be held at the Hong Kong Heritage Museum on December 24 (Sunday) with the Layout Supervisor of Pixar Animation Studios, Patrick Lin, as the speaker. He will discuss his experience of participating in the making of Pixar animation movies.

The talk, to be held from 3pm to 4.30pm at the theatre on the first floor of the Heritage Museum, will be conducted in Cantonese. A maximum of 320 participants can attend on a first-come, first-served basis. Seats can be reserved by calling 2180 8260. Registered participants can redeem their admission slips for the talk at the theatre entrance on the first floor on the day of the talk from 1.30pm onwards.

Pixar Animation Studios' films have touched audiences of all ages since 1995 with signature storytelling and stunning imagery. Lin, the layout artist for Pixar's new film "Coco", will share with the audience behind-the-scenes stories of making "Coco" as well as other films, including the 2013 short film "The Blue Umbrella" and the 2015 Oscar-winning film "Inside Out". He will also showcase Pixar's approach to making compelling films, and the company culture that allows artists to explore new ideas and try new things.

Lin joined Pixar in 1997 and counts among his credits "A Bug's Life", "Toy Story 2" and "Monsters, Inc.", as well as the Oscar-winning features "The Incredibles", "Up", "Ratatouille" and "Inside Out".

The talk is one of the special programmes for the exhibition "Pixar 30 Years of Animation: Hong Kong Celebration of Friendship and Family". The exhibition, which will run until March 5 next year, features a fine selection of more than 300 exhibits. Visitors will be able to have a glimpse of the creative magic behind some of the world's best-known animated films.

The exhibition is jointly presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department and Pixar Animation Studios, jointly organised by the Hong Kong Heritage Museum and Pixar Animation Studios, and fully supported by the Walt Disney Company (Hong Kong) Limited. It is part of a series of cultural activities for the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.
