Family Council holds prize presentation ceremony of "Happy Moments of Family" Snapshot Competition (with photos)
***************************************************************

The following is issued on behalf of the Family Council:

The Chairman of the Family Council, Professor Daniel Shek; the Permanent Secretary for Home Affairs, Mrs Betty Fung; and members of the Family Council presented prizes to the winning families of the "Happy Moments of Family" Snapshot Competition today (December 3).

As this year marks the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the Family Council, the Council and the Home Affairs Bureau jointly launched the "Happy Moments of Family" Snapshot Competition. By collecting photos which captured the happy moments of families, the competition encouraged family members across generations to take part in community and sports activities, so as to enhance inter-generational communication and harmony and promote extended family support.

More than 3 000 entries were received under the two categories, namely "Community and Fun" and "Sports and Exercise", under the competition. For each category, there are a champion, a first runner-up, a second runner-up and five merit awards. The winners were selected by the public through online voting and by an adjudication panel.

At the prize presentation ceremony, Professor Shek and other guests shared tips on maintaining harmonious relationships with family members. They also played games with families participating in the ceremony, with a view to reminding family members across generations to build a happy and harmonious family through various activities.

In addition, Professor Shek announced the commencement of the 2017/18 Family-Friendly Employers Award Scheme, which will be open for applications from January next year. The Award Scheme recognises employers who attach importance to the family-friendly spirit and encourages them to continue to put in place measures, to raise employers' awareness of the importance of family core values. He appealed for active participation by employers in order to build a family-friendly society together.

The winning entries of the "Happy Moments of Family" Snapshot Competition have been uploaded to the competition's website (www.happymomentsoffamily.com/cht/home). Members of the public are welcome to visit the Council's Happy Family Info Hub (www.familycouncil.gov.hk) for details of the publicity event and other upcoming family programmes, as well as family-related information.
