********************************************************************
The following is issued on behalf of the Hong Kong Housing Authority:

     The Hong Kong Housing Authority (HA) will officially launch the first mobile application - the "iHousing" app - for public rental housing tenants on December 13.

     A spokesman for the HA said today (November 29) that the "iHousing" app will provide a wide range of services by phases. The first phase covers rent enquiry and payment services. Tenants can enjoy the following services anytime and anywhere, starting December 13:

* By using a Quick Response (QR) code provided by the app, tenants can pay rent at any 7-Eleven, Circle K Convenience Store, China Resources Vanguard Supermarket or VanGO Convenience Store;

* Check their rent position and rent payment history for the past six months;

* Locate the nearby Estate Shroff Offices, convenience stores and supermarkets for rent payment by using Global Positioning System;

* Receive rent payment reminders by push notification; and

* Receive notification messages on the latest rent policy of the HA.

     In order to encourage tenants to download and use the "iHousing" app, the HA will organise a series of promotional events between December 2017 and April 2018 including a lucky draw for public housing tenants who have registered on the HA website before the end of November 2017 for downloading the app in advance between December 1 and December 10. They will have a chance to win a $50 supermarket shopping voucher (100 winners). More lucky draws will be held for all registered tenants during the promotional period.

     The "iHousing" app can be downloaded free of charge from the Apple App Store or Google Play. The app supports devices running on Android (version 4.4 or later) and Apple iOS (version 9.0 or later). After downloading the app, tenants registered with the HA e-Services accounts can login to "iHousing" with same user accounts. The link to download the "iHousing" app can also be found on the HA/Housing Department website at www.housingauthority.gov.hk.
