The following is issued on behalf of the Council for Sustainable Development:

The Council for Sustainable Development (SDC) is now inviting applications for grants from groups and individuals to undertake projects that will raise public awareness of sustainable development and promote sustainable practices in Hong Kong.

An SDC spokesperson said today (November 23), "In this round of applications, projects that can help carry forward the recommendations made by the Council in the last public engagement exercise on promotion of sustainable consumption of biological resources will receive particular consideration. These include proposals that aim to foster a culture of sustainable consumption of biological resources, facilitate smart choices for consumers, promote best practices among businesses, and examine behavioural changes on sustainable consumption of biological resources in Hong Kong. Other projects that are generally consistent with the overall objectives of the Sustainable Development Fund will also be welcome."

Details of the priority area and application forms are available at www.enb.gov.hk/en/susdev/sdf. Applicants are encouraged to submit applications via email to sdf@enb.gov.hk. Applications should reach the Sustainable Development Fund Secretariat by February 22, 2018.

A briefing session will be held on December 11 at Kowloon Tong Education Services Centre, 19 Suffolk Road, Kowloon Tong to brief interested parties on details of the Sustainable Development Fund and points to note in preparing applications. Persons who would like to attend the briefing session are requested to register with the Secretariat by December 5.
