HKETO, Brussels reaches out to international talents with talks at student career days in Greece and France (with photos)

     The Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Brussels (HKETO, Brussels) gave talks in Greece and France this month, continuing to reach out to students and graduates in Europe as part of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government's efforts to attract overseas talents to Hong Kong.
 
     HKETO, Brussels visited Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece's biggest university, on November 1 (Thessaloniki time) to participate in its Career Day. The talk on study and career opportunities in Hong Kong by the Assistant Representative of HKETO, Brussels, Mr Jeffrey Chim, was attended by 150 students. In his presentation, he updated the students on the new business opportunities in Hong Kong, particularly the important role Hong Kong is playing in the Belt and Road Initiative and the new business-friendly initiatives promulgated under the Policy Address which are favourable to young entrepreneurs who would like to start their businesses in Hong Kong.
 
     Professor Jin Dong-yan of the University of Hong Kong (HKU) also gave a presentation, speaking on the programmes and scholarships HKU offers to non-local students. 
 
     In addition, HKETO, Brussels set up a booth on campus providing information on the Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme for International Students and the scholarships offered by the Hong Kong tertiary institutes as well as brochures on the talent admission scheme.
 
     HKETO, Brussels later visited France's biggest public science and medicine research entity, Pierre and Marie Curie University (UPMC), in Paris on November 21 (Paris time) and took part in the 10th International Day of the Sorbonne University, with which UPMC is soon to merge. 
 
     Speaking at a conference on finding a job abroad after graduation, the Deputy Representative of HKETO, Brussels, Mr Sam Hui, gave a presentation on working in Hong Kong. He outlined the various schemes of Hong Kong aiming at attracting overseas talents from around the world, including France, as well as the relevant measures in terms of immigration which could benefit French students.
 
     Further information on the Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme and the talent admission scheme, as well as brochures on programmes offered by Hong Kong universities, was distributed at a Hong Kong information booth.
