Light festival, tai chi gala and art exhibitions among highlights of 20th anniversary celebration (with photos)
******************************************************************************************
A light festival, a tai chi gala and two art exhibitions will be held in the coming days as part of the celebrations for the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR).

Inspired by and to be held in partnership with the renowned Fête des Lumières de Lyon in France, Lumieres Hong Kong will feature light installations, video projections, art exhibitions and performances, as well as education and outreach activities, from November 23 to 25 (Thursday to Saturday). The event aims to enhance general appreciation of culture and heritage.

Through this three-day light festival, renowned local artists will collaborate with international talents to illuminate the city's landmark sites and buildings in the most fun and enchanting ways. The illuminations will be turned on from 7pm to 11pm at 16 locations in Tsim Sha Tsui and Central.

Another highlight of the event is the Lumieres Village, which will be set up at Chater Garden. Apart from viewing interactive art pieces and visiting a photo booth and food-and-beverage booths with local delicacies, visitors can also enjoy face painting, live band performances, percussion, a cappella singing and special dances by Hong Kong Circus performers with glamorous dresses decorated with LED lights. The Village will be open from 7pm to 11pm on November 23 and from 11am to 11pm on November 24 and 25 with free admission. Various performances will also be presented at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre, Statue Square and Lan Kwai Fong.

A wide array of associated events and education outreach programmes including neon light workshops, guided tours, exhibitions and lectures have been especially developed in partnership with different youth and social welfare organisations and schools for the festival.
