SCS visits Yau Tsim Mong District (with photos)

     The Secretary for the Civil Service, Mr Joshua Law, today (November 15) visited Yau Tsim Mong District and met with members of the Yau Tsim Mong District Council (YTMDC) to get an update on the latest developments in the district and the needs of the community. He also toured a service centre for ethnic minorities as well as local youth facilities.
 
     Accompanied by the Chairman of the YTMDC, Mr Chris Ip; the Vice Chairman of the YTMDC, Ms Wong Shu-ming; and the District Officer (Yau Tsim Mong), Mrs Laura Aron, Mr Law first met with members of the YTMDC to exchange views on developments and issues of concern in the district.
 
     Mr Law later visited the HOME Support Service Centre for Ethnic Minorities in Yau Ma Tei to learn about its services to help ethnic minorities integrate into the community. He chatted with young ethnic minority staff at the centre and also met women participating in a drawing class to better understand their daily life.
 
     Mr Law then proceeded to the Tung Wah Group of Hospitals Jockey Club Tai Kok Tsui Integrated Services Centre to learn about its services to enhance job-related skills for youngsters. He also listened to secondary students who spoke about their experiences in learning how to make creative handicrafts, and tasted coffee brewed by a participant in a cooking class.
 
     Mr Law said he was pleased to learn that the centre offers a wide variety of activities to help youngsters explore their interests and potential. He encouraged them to work hard to better equip themselves for their future careers. He said the current-term Government would strive to do its best in youth development work by addressing the concerns of young people about education, career pursuit and home ownership, and encouraging their participation in politics as well as public policy discussion and debate.
