**********************************************
The Secretary for Home Affairs, Mr Lau Kong-wah, went to Kowloon City District this afternoon (November 14) to visit the rear portion of the Cattle Depot, tour a youth dance studio and meet with members of Kowloon City District Council (KCDC).

Accompanied by the District Officer (Kowloon City), Mr Franco Kwok, Mr Lau first met with KCDC members to listen to the concerns of the local community and learn more about the development and needs of the district.

Mr Lau then proceeded to the rear portion of the Cattle Depot. Accompanied by the Director of Leisure and Cultural Services, Ms Michelle Li, and the Commissioner for Heritage of the Development Bureau, Mr Jose Yam, Mr Lau toured the rear portion and learned about the latest progress of Kowloon City District's Signature Project Scheme - the Revitalisation of the Rear Portion of the Cattle Depot.

With an area of about 6 000 square metres, the project site is situated at San Shan Road, To Kwa Wan. The construction works, commenced in late 2016, include the construction of landscape and sitting-out areas themed on arts and culture, an amenity lawn area and paving an outdoor area. After completion of the development, the project will enhance the connections between To Kwa Wan, Kowloon City and Kai Tak Development area, and provide residents with more public open space for recreational purposes.

Before concluding the visit, Mr Lau visited the Project Dance Studio, which is operated by Jockey Club Farm Road Youth S.P.O.T. of the Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups. He watched dance rehearsals and chatted with young trainees to learn about how they gained experience and pursued their ideals through dance training and co-operation with art industry professionals. The studio is a social enterprise which provides professional dance training, business start-up and employment opportunities for young dance enthusiasts.
