Asian Ethnic Cultural Performances 2017 to be staged at Cultural Centre Piazza this Sunday (with photo)

     Asian Ethnic Cultural Performances 2017, presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, will be staged this Sunday (November 19) at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre Piazza from 2.30pm to 5.30pm. With ethnic performances and activities, the event will showcase the splendid diversity of Asia's cultures. Members of the public are welcome to participate and admission is free.

     The participating Asian countries and regions this year include Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Iran, Japan, Korea, Kuwait, Laos, Nepal, the Philippines, Saudi Arabia, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Macau and Hong Kong.

     The show will feature an array of performances including Korean and Japanese traditional percussion and drum music; Indian Bollywood and classical dance; and ethnic music and dance performances of Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Nepal, the Philippines, Sri Lanka and Thailand. In addition, Hong Kong and Macau arts groups will perform "Engor" ("Dance of Heroes"), nunchaku techniques and Portuguese folk dance during the show.

     There will also be a series of fringe activities such as traditional arts and crafts, costume and food displays, a bamboo musical instrument workshop and martial arts demonstration to showcase the customs and cultures of different places. A broadcasting studio will also be set up to let members of the public enjoy the fun of broadcasting.
