The Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office, London (London ETO) showcased Hong Kong's musical talent by organising a music concert, "Resounding Bauhinia", in London on November 9 (London time). The concert formed part of the programme of events organised or supported by the London ETO to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.

The concert, held at the Bishopsgate Institute, was curated by award-winning Hong Kong-born composer, jazz pianist and conductor Raymond Yiu, and featured the musical talents of ten Hong Kong-born musicians currently based in the United Kingdom. They played a series of musical pieces from different genres, from Western classical to Cantopop and Jazz, including a new piece written by Austin Leung, "Duophony: A City of Two Tunes", showcasing the unique East meets West culture of Hong Kong and bringing Hong Kong music talent to the fore.

Speaking at a reception after the concert, the Director-General of the London ETO, Ms Priscilla To, said, "The concert tonight is one of the events that mark the closing of the programme of our office, the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office, London, to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.

"Throughout 2017, we have organised and supported over 40 events in different cities of the nine countries under our purview, including, of course, London, to share the joy of the special occasion with our friends outside Hong Kong.  Apart from various business events which promoted the opportunities in Hong Kong, there are quite a number of arts and cultural events on our programme calendar.

"Through organising and supporting arts and cultural events, we hope to demonstrate another side of Hong Kong to our friends in different parts of the world, and showcase our talents on different fields, such as the amazing and talented musicians performing for us at the concert tonight, who are from Hong Kong and are now based in the United Kingdom."
