Following is the speech by the Financial Secretary, Mr Paul Chan, at the Hong Kong Ani-Com & Games Intellectual Property Awards and Hong Kong Ani-Com & Games Entrepreneurship Programme Presentation Ceremony today (November 3):

     Allow me now to say a few words in English. First, my thanks to the Act Plus Education Foundation, organiser of today's Hong Kong Ani-Com & Games Intellectual Property Awards as well as the Hong Kong Ani-Com & Games Entrepreneurship Programme. 

     I am very grateful for the involvement of our prestigious international and local judges. Your presence here today can only enhance the development of animation, comics and games here in Hong Kong.

     Indeed, ACG is already among the fastest-growing of our creative industries. Tied to our robust intellectual property protection regime, ACG has the potential to become the cornerstone of Hong Kong's creative industries. And with the active involvement of industry leaders, and events such as today's, I am confident that we can nurture the young talent to power Hong Kong's ACG future. That future, ladies and gentlemen, begins with today's Hong Kong Ani-Com & Games Intellectual Property Awards winners. 

     My heartiest congratulations to you all.
