SHA visits Sai Kung District (with photos)
******************************************

The Secretary for Home Affairs, Mr Lau Kong-wah, visited Sai Kung District this afternoon (November 3). He visited villages at High Island and public facilities in the district.

Mr Lau first visited Pak A Village and Sha Kiu at High Island to learn about the current conditions of the villages, the daily lives of local residents and the potential for developing local tourism.

Mr Lau then went to inspect the former Sai Kung Public School. He was briefed by the District Officer (Sai Kung), Mr David Chiu, and exchanged views with the Chairman of the Sai Kung District Council (SKDC), Mr George Ng, on the facilities, with a view to improving people's livelihoods and promoting the district's development.

Mr Lau learnt that the former Sai Kung Public School was founded by local residents of Sai Kung in 1946, and the premises have been used by local organisations for non-profit-making and social welfare purposes since the school ceased to operate. The local community wishes for the reconstruction and revitalisation of the school premises, which are currently in poor condition.

Before concluding his visit, Mr Lau met with SKDC members to exchange views on various district issues and matters of concern.
