SCS visits Housing Department (with photos)

     The Secretary for the Civil Service, Mr Joshua Law, visited the Housing Department today (November 3) to meet with its management and staff of various grades to better understand the department's work and challenges.
 
     Accompanied by the Permanent Secretary for the Civil Service, Mr Thomas Chow, Mr Law first met with the Permanent Secretary for Transport and Housing (Housing) and Director of Housing, Mr Stanley Ying, and the directorate staff to get an update on the department's work in dealing with housing-related policies and matters.

     Mr Law then proceeded to the Architectural Section of the Development and Construction Division to learn about the Section's work, including its architectural and project management services for the planning, design and construction of public housing developments. He was also briefed on the latest public housing development projects such as the Wah Fu Estate Redevelopment project.

     Mr Law later visited the Structural Condition Monitoring Unit under the Estate Management Division to learn about the implementation of the Comprehensive Structural Investigation Programme, under which thorough inspection is conducted to ascertain the structural safety of Public Rental Housing estates aged around 40 years old, so as to ensure a safe living environment for the residents.

     Before concluding his visit, Mr Law met with staff representatives of various grades at a tea gathering to exchange views on matters that concern them. He expressed appreciation for colleagues' efforts and encouraged them to continue to serve the community with commitment and dedication.
