The "Together · Progress · Opportunity - Celebration of the 20th Anniversary of the Return of Hong Kong to the Motherland" Shenyang Roving Exhibition organised by the Liaoning Liaison Unit of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Government at Liaoning Provincial Museum concluded successfully today (October 29).

Since opening to the public on October 17, the Shenyang Roving Exhibition received an overwhelming response. The two-week exhibition drew wide attention from people from all walks of life, with visitors of different age groups and from different sectors showing immense interest in it. The Liaoning Liaison Unit welcomed more than 140 organisations at the exhibition, with representatives listening to briefings by working staff and offering Hong Kong their best wishes.

The "heart-beat" interactive installation at the entrance of the exhibition gallery, which resonated with the exhibition's main theme of "togetherness", was particularly popular among visitors. Since the installation's launch at the first exhibition in the National Museum of China in Beijing it travelled to different provinces, cities and autonomous regions and a total of 1 169 929 "heart beats" were collected, far exceeding expectations. The interactive installation "collected" heartbeats and wishes from members of public from all these different places, symbolising that citizens from Hong Kong and Mainland are all working together for the development of the Mainland and Hong Kong.

The Shenyang Roving Exhibition brought to a close all the roving exhibitions held in 10 provinces, cities and autonomous regions under the service areas of the Office of the Government of the HKSAR of the People's Republic of China in Beijing (BJO). The roving exhibitions attracted about 550 000 visitors in total.

Furthermore, the Shenyang and Dalian legs of the Sixth Hong Kong Thematic Film Festival, jointly presented by the BJO, the Liaoning Liaison Unit and Beijing Broadway Cinematheque, will be launched tonight (October 29) at Cinema Palace in Shenyang and tomorrow night (October 30) at Cinema Palace in Dalian respectively.

The film festival is one of the major programmes organised under the theme "Together · Progress · Opportunity" to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the return of Hong Kong to the Motherland. Since 2012, the film festival has been held annually in different Mainland cities to promote contemporary Hong Kong film culture and to foster active exchanges between the Hong Kong and Mainland film circles. This year, classic movies selected from the the Hong Kong Film Awards over the past years will be screened to audiences in the Mainland, especially in Shenyang and Dalian in Liaoning Province.

The Shenyang and Dalian legs of the film festival this year will screen eight films from October 29 to November 6, and from October 30 to November 7 respectively, namely "Days of Being Wild" (opening film of Shenyang leg), "All About Ah Long" (opening film of Dalian leg), "Center Stage", "92 The Legendary La Rose Noire", "July Rhapsody", "Shanghai Blues", "A Moment of Romance" and "Chicken and Duck Talk". This selection of films features a rich array of genres with different characteristics, and some are being screened in the Mainland for the first time.
