Safety alert on Biobase Medical Refrigerator

Users are advised to look out for the following in the medical refrigerators:
* Defective LED lamp
* Water condensation found in the LED cover
* Corrosion or discoloration found in the LED cover
* The temperature alarm triggered without user interference (e.g. opening door)
* Clear visible frosting
If the refrigerators are presenting with any of the above conditions and are with no medicine storage, the customers should stop using them immediately, unplug the power connection and contact the supplier via email (rd@medishop.com.hk). The users should call the supplier's hotline (3907 9610) if their affected refrigerators are keeping medicines that require low temperate storage.
For refrigerators which have not been inspected by the supplier in the past three months, the users should also stop using them immediately and contact the supplier (if there is no medicine storage) or call the supplier's hotline (if there are medicines that require low temperate storage) as mentioned above.
According to the supplier, 55 units of the affected refrigerators were distributed to various organisations in Hong Kong, including rehabilitation centres and dormitories, sheltered workshops as well as other venues. The supplier is notifying the relevant customers.
"So far, the DH has not received any reports of adverse incidents related to the affected device in Hong Kong," a spokesman for the DH said.
"The DH has also informed relevant organisations about the alert and will continue to liaise with the supplier on necessary follow-up actions," the spokesman said.
