Government announces appointments to Energy Advisory Committee

     The Government today (October 13) announced in the Gazette that Mr Jimmy Kwok Chun-wah and Professor Fung Tung have been appointed as the Chairman and Member of the Energy Advisory Committee (the Committee) respectively from today to July 14, 2018.

     The Secretary for the Environment, Mr Wong Kam-sing, welcomed the appointments. "Mr Kwok has been serving as a Member of the Committee since 2012 and has ample experience serving in a range of Government advisory boards and committees. I am sure that, under his chairmanship, the Committee will continue to provide the Government with useful and comprehensive advice on energy policy matters," said Mr Wong.

     Professor Fung Tung is a renowned academic in his field, and has been actively involved in climate change and environment-related matters.

     The Committee advises the Government on energy policy, including policy matters concerning energy supply and demand, energy conservation and efficiency, and other related matters. The former Chairman, Professor Raymond So, resigned from the Committee and ceased to be the Chairman with effect from September 22, 2017.
