The "Play to Change" art project, which was presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) and co-organised by Oi! and the Hong Kong Institute of Architects, has won Japan's Good Design Award 2017.

A spokesman for LCSD said, "Since its establishment in 2013, Oi! has been striving to provide a platform for exchanging ideas with the aim of nurturing young artists and promoting community art. The award not only recognises our efforts in art promotion, but also proves that local artist creations are up to international standards."

The spokesman added that Oi! will uphold its belief in the transformative power of art and continue to provide a space for the community to experience art, as well as offering a platform for art practitioners to experiment with their ideas of artistic creation.

Hosted by the Japan Institute of Design Promotion, the Good Design Award aims to choose and highlight outstanding designs from around the world. The awarded art project "Play to Change", which was launched in January this year, aims to heighten public awareness of the living environment, city development and pressing social issues by showcasing the creative artworks of a group of young local architects.

Oi! is located at 12 Oil Street, North Point. In addition to the above-mentioned award, it has won multiple awards in the past including the Good Design Award 2016 - Best 100, the Good Design Award 2015, the Good Design Award 2014 and Cultural Preservation of the Year under the Shenzhen and Hong Kong Lifestyle Award 2013 presented by Southern Metropolis Daily.
