Taiwan-based Hutong grilled meat restaurant establishes foothold in Hong Kong (with photos)
******************************************************************************************
Taiwan-based grilled meat restaurant Hutong announced today (October 10) that it has opened its first restaurant in Hong Kong, leveraging the city's status as a renowned culinary capital to expand its business outside Taiwan amid an effort to reach the global market.

Hutong is a popular Japanese-style grilled meat restaurant in Taiwan. Its debut restaurant in Hong Kong is located at Prat Avenue, Tsim Sha Tsui. The interior design theme follows that of the brand's restaurants in Taiwan. Inspired by traditional Chinese-style decorations, including ancient-style doors, lanterns, window patterns and more, the restaurant offers a dining environment different from other Japanese restaurants, according to the Vice General Manager of Gyen Hutong (Hong Kong) Limited, Mr Jeff Ke.

He said, "Hong Kong tourists are our main source of non-local clientele in Taiwan. They like our food and our restaurant is recommended by many travel guide books available in Hong Kong. Therefore, we spent the past three years in preparation and eventually opened our first restaurant in the city this year, which means that our Hong Kong fans do not have to travel miles in order to enjoy our cuisine."

He added, "Hong Kong is Asian culinary capital and Hong Kong customers look for tasty and high-quality food. Opening our first outlet outside Taiwan in Hong Kong will take us closer to our customers as the first step of our global expansion plan."

Associate Director-General of Investment Promotion Dr Jimmy Chiang said, "Hong Kong has a highly sophisticated food and beverage market. The city attracts millions of overseas and Mainland visitors every year and hence provides an excellent platform for restaurants to raise their global brand awareness. I believe that Hutong will make good use of Hong Kong's advantages in expanding its business outside Taiwan."
