SCED to attend WTO Informal Ministerial Gathering in Morocco (with photos)

     The Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Mr Edward Yau, will attend the discussion session at the World Trade Organization (WTO) Informal Ministerial Gathering in Marrakesh, Morocco, today (October 9, Marrakesh time).

     At the session themed "What can be realistically achieved at the 11th WTO Ministerial Conference", participating trade ministers will discuss issues under negotiation in order to reach balanced results during the 11th WTO Ministerial Conference to be held in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in December.

     While in Marrakesh, Mr Yau has held bilateral meetings with the Vice Minister of Commerce, Mr Wang Shouwen, and the 11th WTO Ministerial Conference Chair, Ms Susana Malcorra. They had useful exchanges on the importance of upholding the rule-based multilateral trading system and issues of mutual concern.
