Innovation and technology activities, crossover show and district carnival among highlights of 20th anniversary celebration (with photos)

     A series of activities promoting innovation and technology, a fashion and music crossover show and a district carnival will be held in the coming days as part of the celebrations for the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR).
 
     Organised by the Innovation and Technology Commission with the support of the Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups and the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation, InnoTech Month 2017 was launched on September 30 and will run until December 8. It offers the general public and the innovation and technology industry a range of exciting activities including roadshows, exhibitions, workshops, guided tours, forums, industry conferences, a carnival and more.
 
     Carrying the theme of "Live Smart‧Be Innovative", the anchor event of the campaign, InnoCarnival 2017, will be held at the Hong Kong Science Park from October 21 to 29. Visitors will have a chance to experience an array of creative inventions and research achievements of local universities, research and development centres, professional bodies and technology institutes through exhibitions, workshops and guided tours. McMug will continue to be the ambassador for the carnival this year.
 
     A promotional truck, InnoForce, is another highlight of the campaign. It has been going around the territory since September 30 and will continue its tour until October 13 (Friday), allowing members of the public to better understand robotics, smart living and healthy ageing through virtual reality (VR) and other interactive activities on the truck.

     JUXTAPOSED Fashion X Music 2017 presented by the Hong Kong Fashion Designers Association, will combine fashion and music into a free celebratory programme of style and culture. The crossover show will combine a catwalk of showpieces tailored by 80 renowned Hong Kong fashion designers with live performances by local and overseas musicians.
 
     The event will be held at Tamar Park (Central and Western District Promenade - Central section) on October 14 (Saturday) from 8.15pm. All tickets have been registered for. Those without tickets can still enjoy the show through a giant screen at the public area.

     The Kwai Tsing District Carnival in Celebration of the 68th Anniversary of the Founding of the People's Republic of China cum the 20th Anniversary of the Establishment of the HKSAR, organised by the Kwai Tsing District Council Celebration of the National Day Working Group and the Kwai Tsing Volunteer Develop Team and co-presented by the Kwai Tsing District Office, will be held on October 15 (Sunday) at Tsing Yi Southwest Sports Centre from 2pm to 7pm.
 
     The event will be open to the public for free. Activities will include interactive family sports, VR games, photo booths, youth talent shows and an outdoor sports climbing wall. Souvenirs and game vouchers will be distributed during the event.

     To share the joy of the 20th anniversary, the HKSAR Government is joining hands with different sectors to organise a wide variety of activities and events under the theme "Together • Progress • Opportunity".

     Altogether, more than 900 events and activities are being staged by the Government and different sectors until the end of 2017.
