Regional Traffic Day of Hong Kong Island

The operation concluded at 7pm and a total of 282 officers from Traffic Hong Kong Island and District Traffic Teams of Eastern, Wan Chai, Central and Western Districts were deployed to enforce traffic regulations at traffic black spots on Hong Kong Island.
A total of 1,081 FPTs were issued for illegal parking and 146 for other traffic offences.
Statistics revealed that a total of 1,815 traffic accidents involving casualties occurred on Hong Kong Island from January to August 2017, of which 516 cases with pedestrians injured. Among the traffic accidents with pedestrians injured, 38.2 per cent were attributed to the negligence of pedestrians.
