Appointments to Research Council

The non-official members include seven new members and seven re-appointed members. The new members are Dr Vincent Cheng Chi-chung, Professor Timothy Kwok Chi-yui, Professor Lau Chak-sing, Professor Leung Suet-yi, Professor Lyu Aiping, Professor Hextan Ngan Yuen-sheung and Professor Yip Shea-ping.
Professor Francis Chan Ka-leung and Professor Gabriel Matthew Leung meanwhile are re-appointed in their respective capacities of Dean of the Faculty of Medicine of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, and Dean of the Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine of the University of Hong Kong, as ex-officio members of the Research Council.
The Secretary for Food and Health (SFH), Professor Sophia Chan, expressed gratitude to the outgoing members: Professor Fok Tai-fai, Professor Mary Ip Sau-man, Professor Nancy Ip Yuk-yu, Professor Lau Yu-lung, Professor Dennis Lo Yuk-ming, Professor Paul Tam Kwong-hang, Dr Dominic Tsang Ngai-chong and Professor Maurice Yap Keng-hung, for their dedication and invaluable contribution to the work of the Research Council.
The Research Council, chaired by SFH, is responsible for providing strategic guidance for funding health and medical research, and overseeing the administration of the Health and Medical Research Fund including the allocation of funds for approved research projects.
